I love the smell of fresh-cut lumber; I always have. It signifies that something exciting is happening — someone’s dream of a new home, or a renovation or addition to an existing home, is becoming a reality. The process of birthing a new home can be exhilarating, but at times it can be daunting as well. Throughout the process of planning, design, permits, bidding, and construction, it is critical to have the right professional guidance and expertise to ensure that your desired end result is achieved smoothly and successfully. As your architect, let me be your expert guide along the way.
Experience
I am a licensed architect with 35+ years of experience in the design and construction industry. Through the years, I’ve honed my design skills as well as the organization and people skills critical to successful project leadership.
My bi-coastal career covers a breadth of project types: custom homes, apartment buildings and condominiums, shopping centers, retail interiors, and office space. I've designed new construction projects from the ground up, plus additions and renovations to existing structures as much as one hundred years old. My previous work with architectural firms both large and small, plus several years as an architect at the federal government level, has given me an understanding of projects from the scale of a bath remodel to tens of thousands of square feet of commercial space.
Credentials
I hold professional licenses as an architect in both California and my ‘hometown’ of Washington, DC. I’m a member of the American Institute of Architects [AIA] and the Central Coast chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council [USGBC C4], and have also earned the credential as a Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional [LEED AP] in recognition for my advanced training and commitment to sustainable design. My proposed design for a passive solar rowhouse in the District of Columbia received a competition design award from the AIA DC chapter and was featured in a corresponding exhibit at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

Commitment
My design approach is deeply client-focused. I listen carefully to my clients' desires and concerns and work hand-in-hand with them to create a home that is beautiful, efficient, durable, safe, economical, and above all, custom tailored to their needs and aspirations. The testament to my success is the number of repeat clients and referrals from clients to their friends and neighbors. The quotes scattered throughout this site were not solicited in any way, but represent sincere and spontaneous comments of appreciation from those with whom I've I've had the privilege to work.
